“SNL” Skips Opening Sketch To Pay Tribute To Paris Victims
“Paris is the city of light. And here in New York City, we know that light will never go out.”

A series of terror attacks in the French capital left at least 129 people dead, and cities across the world have been honoring the victims with vigils, memorials, and landmarks glowing with the colors of the French flag.

SNL skipped its traditional opening sketch and instead showed Cecily Strong deliver a heartfelt message, her voice audibly trembling.

“Paris is the city of light. And here in New York City, we know that light will never go out. Our love and support is with everyone there tonight, and we stand with you.”

Strong then delivered the same message in French, before saying, “And now, live from New York, it’s Saturday night.”
