A theft suspect who gained internet fame due to his uncanny resemblance to actor David Schwimmer, who played ‘Ross’ on the hit TV series Friends, has been arrested in London.
Blackpool Police previously shared the image of the wanted man, taken from a security camera, to seek help from the public in locating the suspect.
The similarities in looks caught the attention of Schwimmer, who responded with a hilarious video in which he provides an alibi whilst “stealing” a carton of beer cans, mimicking the theft act. The video came with the caption, “Officers, I swear it wasn’t me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation.”
On 12 November, Blackpool Police tweeted that the investigation had come to a close and that the suspect had been tracked down in Southall, West London.
The tweet reads, “Following the appeal we posted looking for a man who resembles a well-known actor, we now have an update. Thanks to our colleagues @MetPoliceUK, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Southall last night on suspicion of theft. Thanks for the support, especially @DavidSchwimmer!”
