President Trump has signed an executive order to cease the separation of immigrants from their families following public outcry, but the nation is still coming to terms with the aftermath of initial implementations. Until today, thousands of children are being held in custody by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the possibility of them reconnecting with their asylum-seeking parents is still unknown.
In contrast to what was written on the back of Melania Trump’s jacket on the day she flew to Texas to meet these children, people do care. Media outlets, internet users, and artists have been outspoken about the now-reversed policy and its consequences. TIME magazine’s heartbreaking photo illustration went viral, and The New Yorker magazine followed suit with thought-provoking artwork.
View some sobering creations by artists and illustrators, including one from eighth-grader Sasha Matthews, in response to the hard-hearted immigration policy below.

I am younger than some of the kids they are putting in cages. And some of the kids in cages are younger than me. Please retweet, let’s bring this ugly policy to an end. pic.twitter.com/PIItjm0HS7
